Designing a Model for Community Participation
Evolving inDICEs Community Creation
A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.
Developing conversations, resources, and frameworks to develop an observatory that can provide meaningful feedback to inform the inDICEs platform and design. Designing a model for community participation - is a step by step process to co-create and collaborate on the development of the participatory space. This space will identify important themes and issues where individuals and organizations want to explore and have dynamic conversations or research. Through different online tools provided by the platform such as surveys, debates, and collaborative spaces this process will be a cornerstone building block to develop digital community oriented models, tools, and resources.
The Designing a Model for Community Participation Process focuses as you might get on the community aspect of the participatory space. The main objectives of this process are: Developing a train the trainers methodology and a governance model. Important to note is that the objective of developing a train the trainers methodology will be supported by the process, Co-designing an Impact Lite Crash Course: Europeana Meets inDICEs. This process will prioritise establishing the principles and ethical compass of inDICes to build a model for accountability. The work within this process is directly linked to deliverable 5.4 to select and analyse participatory approaches, develop a methodological framework to support a model for community participation.
