KickassTorrents was once a torrenting behemoth. However, the KickassTorrents domain name was seized by US authorities in July 2016 due to allegations of copyright infringement. The site's owner is currently imprisoned in Poland, fighting extradition to the United States. Although the original (Kickass website) is no longer operational, the original site's staff has established a new website. It also bears the same name and looks like the original KickassTorrents. The torrents site at katcr.co is a new site, not a proxy of the old one, and some users report that it falls short of the original's standards.
