Emotions and Sense of Participation
The fact that in terms of emotional reactions and sense of participation, active cultural participation elicits the strongest emotional drives. You can have reactions in the patronage regime that are extremely emotional, but what is the point, what lacks there is the ownership effect, when you are producing content as a part of a community in a sense it's yours and your space and world and we imagine that the emotional point of view is stronger.
