Archive of Our Own is typical Web 2.0 repository for fan fiction. The platform only offers a limited set of features to follow or discover others work but remained lively hosting many communities writing and expending on existing universes.

Our research investigated the case of AO3 online forum created and managed directly by fan fiction writers who wanted to share their creative work with a global fandom community. With the present research, we intend to include in the definition of Digital Cultural Heritage (DCH) not only digital objects related to CHIs’ collections, but also narration understood as collective heritage belonging to everyone who has free access to it, who has freedom of sharing it and of elaborating on it, managing and co-creating it as an inherited good to be maintained and transmitted dynamically. The role of narrative in establishing a shared, common identity is well known, but what about the infinite scenario of new forms of narrations collectively created by digital communities that circulate online? And, in return, how do those communities help to keep those cultural production lively through their creation and internal dynamics?
