During the Covid-19 pandemic there was a spike in hate speech and misinformation specifically directed at minorities. How can we rethink the role of cultural institutions to reflect on historical, unequal power dynamics?
Hypothesis
hate speech during the pandemic has been built on and reinforces historical unequal power dynamics. digital media has amplified the harm of hate speech and cultural. cultural institutions can and have acted as agents to facilitate dialogs and reflections that challenge the discriminatory narratives of hate speech.
Collaboration
Providing more data in terms of actions by cultural institutions, reports, data sets, case studies, and new ideas to challenge hate speech
